Prince Philip’s True Thoughts on Meghan Markle Revealed

Prior to megxit and all its accompanying tensions and controversies, discontent has reportedly boiled within the Royal Family over Prince Harry’s decision to marry American actress, Meghan Markle.

We’ve already heard how Prince William disproved of the union, instead urging Harry to take his time to know Meghan better. Now we’re hearing that another prominent member of the family expressed his dissatisfaction over Harry’s decision to marry the ‘Suits’ actress.

Here’s the biting comment this family member allegedly made.

Prince Philip Doesn’t Understand Why Anyone Would Marry An Actress

The fact that the old generation always finds a way to see things differently from the younger generation could not be more true when one considers the disparate ways Prince Philip and Prince Harry viewed marriage to an actress.

Whilst Prince Harry is all about marrying someone he loves deeply, Prince Philip was busy seeing red flags due to her choice of profession.

“One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them,” he said, as per claims made in royal biographer Andrew Lownie’s book ‘Entitled.’

This claim was also sort of put forward in author Ingrid Seward’s 2024 book ‘My Mother and I, Philip.’ In it, she claimed that the late Philip was one of the first people to grow wary of Prince Harry’s romance with Meghan, starting as far back as when their love story was still blossoming in 2016.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s displeasure must have been so deep-rooted he even compared her to Wallis Simpson. For those who aren’t immediately raising eyebrows at such a comparison, King Edward VIII’s abdicated his throne to marry Simpson in 1937. Whilst they stayed together to the end, many have speculated that at some point, their marriage had grown loveless.

Prince William Advised Younger Brother Prince Harry On His Relationship With Meghan Markle

William, perhaps following his grandfather’s lead, had admonished Harry on the risks of pushing on with his Meghan Markle romance.

“It’s too fast, he’d told me. Too soon. In fact, he’d actually been pretty discouraging about my even dating Meg,” Harry wrote in ‘Spare,’ interestingly adding, “One day, sitting together in his garden, he’d predicted a host of difficulties I could expect if I hooked up with an ‘American actress’, a phrase he always managed to make sound like a ‘convicted felon.'”
