The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Cane Wants to Make Amends — Is Devon Being a Hypocrite?

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) hasn’t decided to move ahead with his takeover plans.

But that could happen if he can’t gain a reasonable hope of reconciling with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) in the near future.

The end of his marriage with Lily happened years ago in real and soap time. Viewers know that the character Daniel Goddard (the original Cane) played left Genoa City, Wisconsin, in search of his father.

Finding Colin Atkinson (the late Tristan Rogers) proved to be a mixed blessing. The father and son overcame their differences, and Colin provided a bountiful gift to Cane that dramatically altered the course of his life and now, many others.

How Long Should Cane Ashby Wait?

Cane is steadfast in saying that his dad redeemed himself before dying. Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) was at the chateau in France during the last days of Colin’s life and agreed with Cane.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) believes otherwise and also doesn’t care what Colin’s supposed change of heart meant. He believes Colin stole an old lady’s fortune and gave it to Cane, who used it to develop a doomsday artificial intelligence tool.

Whether Cane uses the software that can supposedly override any company’s computer security system remains to be seen.

Whether the AI tool lives up to the hype is a great question. But a better one is how long Cane will give Lily to make her final decision about him.

Lily Winters Has Legitimate Considerations

Lily still cares for Cane. Everyone, on both sides of the screen, including Cane, feels that.

But whether the deep love she once felt, the bond they share through the twins, and who Cane has become allows her to offer redemption is a very complex issue. Add to that, many people have been negatively affected by Cane’s actions since revealing his Aristotle Dumas persona.

The twins were devastated by their father’s deception and couldn’t understand why he kept his evolution, or whatever one wants to call it, from them. Lily’s maternal instincts and natural protection of her children are overriding factors that are impacting her current judgment.

Devon Winters Wronged Amanda Sinclair

Devon Winters (Bryton James) often projects a sour demeanor. Except for the moments when he’s with his wife, Abby Newman Winters (Melissa Ordway) and their son, Dominic Winters (played most recently by Rainn and River Ware).

Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) career as a surgeon was ended by Devon’s sucker punch because he was with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy).

The late Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) was totally disrespected when Devon had an affair with his then-wife, Abby. Plus, Chance was a wonderful stepfather to Dom, which Devon can’t deny.

Abby’s indiscretion with Devon had another victim. Her name was Devon’s then-girlfriend, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), who is the twin sister of his late wife, Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Morgan’s first role).

So, Devon is looking down at Cane and doesn’t want Lily to offer him any grace. Yet, Devon sought that for himself in the past-referenced situations. Some, though not all, would rightly classify that as hypocrisy.
