Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) told his son that he loves Sheila and that they have a connection. But he’s not sure if his wife can be trusted.
Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) seemed unlikely to accept Deacon’s plea but agreed to hear him out. Then she took another step, deciding to become his therapist indefinitely.
Viewers have often seen the soapy plot technique where, generally, one character overhears two others talking. Generally, those non-private conversations will mention the eavesdropper.
Taylor didn’t see Sheila standing by her only door, the one that is at the front of her practice’s office. So, viewers were asked to suspend disbelief when Deacon hugged Taylor, she responded, and a shocked Sheila looked on.
Deacon admitted that he was seeing a therapist and that the doctor was Taylor. Sheila responded out of character and supported her husband’s intentions, appearing to endorse them.
However, she soon tracked Deacon to Taylor’s practice and listened to the bulk of their conversation while no one passed by her in the hallway. Plus, viewers wondered how Sheila got past the front desk secretary.
Sheila is scared that she could lose Deacon. But her reaction to him telling her about Taylor was a major mistake.
She threatened Taylor when telling her that she wasn’t going to allow anyone to come between them. That sent multiple messages, with one of them being that Taylor needs to champion their reconciliation or else.
In Sheila’s world or otherwise has often meant torture or life-threatening injuries. In a few instances, her enemies also died.
All the work that Sheila has done to redeem herself is real. Deacon is the reason why she’s remained steady and gained hope. It would be a real shame to see her revert to what she was in daytime days gone by. But that’s possible, if not probable, if Deacon waves goodbye.
Deacon has doctor-patient confidentiality, but Sheila doesn’t because Taylor isn’t her doctor. She’s also not a supporter, as Sheila referenced.
Challenging Taylor’s professionalism was understandable based on the emotionally charged circumstances. However, it also might have provoked Budig’s character, who is outraged that Sheila concealed Luna’s faked-death scheme, which puts Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), her family, and many others in danger.
Taylor won’t steer Deacon back to Sheila. Viewers will be watching to see how the good doctor responds if he eventually decides to make a romantic play for her and what Sheila does after that.
