General Hospital Spoilers: Will We Ever See These Beloved Port Charles Characters Again?

General Hospital spoilers claim GH fans are looking for a familiar face in the crowd. As we segue into fall and wait for November sweeps, we’re questioning whether we’ll be greeted with any more comebacks — from characters dead or alive.

Over the years, we’ve had to say goodbye to too many fan-favorites who we just assumed would be around for the long haul. Finding out otherwise was heartbreaking in many cases.

But sometimes, a character just drifted off into the ether and we never really got an explanation or a goodbye. One such character was Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy), who left for Nixon Falls in early 2023 and never returned or appeared to keep in touch with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Others like Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) left on terms that broke fans’ hearts — albeit in very different ways. So, what are the odds that we ever see any of them again?

Phyllis Would Be Fire

The fans enjoyed having Phyllis around, even when she no longer fit into Sonny’s world because he wasn’t ‘Mike’ anymore. Back in 2021, Sonny found himself in Nixon Falls and Phyllis just happened to be the nurse on call when this patient with no memory needed her care.

The rest, as they say, was history. Phyllis was accustomed to taking in strays, and it seemed that Sonny/Mike was the sweetest she’d ever stumbled upon. As she dealt with the death of her husband, Leonard ‘Lenny’ Caulfield (Rif Hutton), Sonny and Nina helped her through it, and she found new footing running Charlie’s Bar in Port Charles.

But ultimately, she opted to go back to Nixon Falls and start over, and we haven’t seen her since. Obviously, she wouldn’t have much relevancy popping back in now, but the fans sound open to seeing her again if GH writers can make it work. Hey, it looks like Nina could use all the support from friends she can get right now.

Helena on Halloween Would Be Killer

If we’re bound to see any spooky spirits this month, we’re hoping it might be that of Helena, the most notorious Cassadine of them all, some might say.

It’s been about as long since we last saw Helena as when we last saw Phyllis, but she was present via hallucinations Valentin Cassadine (James Stuart Patrick) had when he was drugged. Before that apparitions and her appearance during Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) memorial service aboard the Haunted Star decorated her afterlife.

Most fans would welcome her ghostly form any time, but a reboot where Helena is somehow alive and kicking might fit into this current storyline with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) quite well.

Sam Would Be Too Soon

While most fans would agree they want Sam back in action in Port Charles, few would probably prefer it happen right now. Initially, when fans found out about the intentions to let Kelly Monaco go, they rallied around her with support and demanded that GH reconsider.

That didn’t happen, obviously. Now, almost a year after her untimely death, we can still remember Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) heartfelt goodbye, and the montage of their years together with their song playing in the background.

Bringing her back too soon would lessen the impact of that goodbye, and we loved it. So, for now, we’re hoping Monaco is moving on with her life and will be welcomed back someday when it’s more fitting.
