Meghan Markle Slammed for What Fans Call ‘Princess Diana Spite’

The Duchess of Sussex’s trip to Paris was anything but uncontroversial. Shortly after the former American actress arrived on the red carpet to support Balenciaga’s fall show, she received some backlash over her choice of wardrobe. I’m talking an oversized white cape on top of white trousers and white shirt.

But it was nothing compared to the backlash that posting a seemingly innocent video on Instagram would bring. You see, Meghan Markle was in her Instagram influencer mode in Paris and just wanted to give fans a bite of the beautiful city.

However, it is quite questionable that she should choose to film near the bridge where her husband’s mother tragically lost her life those many years ago. Even more disturbing still that she should do that with her feet up on the couch. But yeah, when the good life calls, amiright?

Did Meghan Markle Really Not Know She Was Near the Tunnel Prince Harry’s Mother Lost Her Life?

If you ever find yourself contemplating the absurdity of the video Meghan chose to share with her millions of fans on Instagram, you’re not alone.

In her column for The Daily Mail, Amanda Platell also sought to understand Meghan’s reasons for doing what she did. Well, despite worshipping at Princess Diana’s grave and all that, Meghan’s pr team defended the Duchess by claiming she wasn’t aware she was near the Pont d’Alma tunnel.

Platell doubted this, writing, “Does anyone really believe it was coincidence rather than cynical attention-seeking that Meghan’s first solo European trip as Duchess of Sussex was a visit to Paris? The romantic city that Princess Diana loved above all, and the one where she died?”

The royal expert added: “Or that it was mere happenstance, after Megs attended a Balenciaga fashion show, that she filmed then posted on social media the late-night, chauffeur-driven journey along the Seine back to her hotel – a route parallel to the one taken on the other side of the river by Diana on the night of her fatal crash.”
