As it turns out, he’s even farther from freedom than he originally thought.
When the 40-day expiration day hits, Ric might find himself back on the streets of Port Chuck, but how will he explain that scream for help on the other end of the phone that Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) just can’t shake from her memory? She’s certain to bring it up to him, and she might even suspect that there was something going on between him and Alexis.
Ric is going to want to squash any such concern, given that he is still trying to get back in the sheets with Elizabeth.
While fans expect the truth to eventually come out, they have to wonder why Ric wanted to call Elizabeth of all people, and why Elizabeth cares so much about this guy.
Ric isn’t interested in making amends for his past misdeeds. He knows he can’t. But it’s also what is holding him up from making headway with Elizabeth.
She just can’t seem to get past the things he did to her, nor should she. We all remember his philandering and abuse right? Not to mention, that scheme where he was drugging Elizabeth with birth control pills! If you tack on the things he’s some to other women in town, suffice it to say, Elizabeth and every other woman is safer without him in their lives.
Still, Elizabeth has to temper her desire to save everyone in need. Her inner nurse doesn’t seem to know when it stops. If someone needs help — even if it is because of harm they’ve done to themselves — there she is, swooping in to rescue them.
Sure, she might warn them to learn their lesson, but that’s not going to stop her from pitching in if they find themselves in need of help again someday because they failed to see the writing on the wall. Elizabeth’s giving heart is her biggest asset and also her fatal flaw.
Will it overtake her when it comes to Ric?
There aren’t many fans out there who are dying to see these two back in action. We prefer the playful banter, thanks. Let Ric flirt with Elizabeth, and let her continue to struggle to accept his compliments while reminding him the elevator of love will not be going up for them — ever again.
Yet some kind of friendship has been percolating between these two ever since Ric came back to town. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) couldn’t believe Elizabeth’s willingness to even speak to Ric, much less break bread with him and entertain being cordial.
Now, she’s gone there, and we have to wonder if that scream on the other end of the line now haunts the corners of her mind.
Is she about to chase down her ex out of fear that he isn’t really on a volunteer digital detox? Will she come to his aid even though he hardly deserves it, and if so, will his victim status make her see him through the unsafe lens of someone she wants to cozy up to again? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
