Holden has been quietly falling for Claire. This isn’t a simple crush. He isn’t interested in her because Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) ordered him to grow closer to her. He has been fighting his attraction to the young Newman, being careful not to cross any boundary to respect her relationship with Kyle.

Claire is everything Holden never knew he wanted. She has been through more than his mind can comprehend. She could be jaded or cynical. But she isn’t. Instead, she’s trusting and sweet, prompting him to want to shield her from any more pain.

Kyle’s Big Deception

Let’s go over Kyle’s big lie. In France, Kyle was wearing nothing but a towel, making out on a bed with his ex-lover, Audra. But his excuse is about as lame as they come. He was setting up a trap. It felt real to Audra because he had to make it look real.

Kyle never told Claire about him being in a towel on a bed while he made out with Audra. He also failed to mention the intensity of the kiss. He only told her he had to set a trap for Audra, and she failed it. He might have admitted to kissing her, but none of the other details were discussed. This provides the perfect storm for Claire to finally get sick of Kyle’s lies and manipulation and confide in Holden about her relationship troubles.

Holden Makes His Move

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Holden knows Audra well. They had a full-fledged fling back in the day. They also have unresolved feelings between them, making Holden the perfect person for Claire to lean on. He will know all about Audra’s schemes and how dirty she plays.

This will give Holden an edge in guiding Claire to end her relationship with Kyle and consider him as her new beau. It shouldn’t take much for Claire to give up on Kyle after she learns about the passionate kiss on the bed in a towel situation. That screams betrayal. Claire can put up with a lot of stuff, but a blatant betrayal like that won’t fly.
