New US Travel Bans – Is Your Country On The List?

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, President Donald Trump announced new travel bans for entry into the United States. The changes are expected to be fast-tracked. The order includes a full ban on visitors from 12 nations, alongside heightened restrictions for others. Read on to see if your country is one of them.

The Fully Banned Countries

According to The White House, Trump made his decisions based on facts obtained about countries who displayed “hostile attitudes” to the USA. Additionally, these included weighing up whether the nationals of certain countries “would cause serious damage to the national security of the United States.” Further factors considered were the numbers of “overstayers.”

The full ban means you won’t be allowed to enter the USA at all. However, there is a clause where the administration might waive that and make an exception. The fully banned countries include:

• Afghanistan
• Myanmar (Burma)
• Chad
• Republic of Congo
• Equatorial Guinea
• Eritrea
• Haiti
• Iran
• Libya
• Somalia
• Sudan
• Yemen

Tighter Restrictions  On Other Nationals

People who want to visit the USA from seven other countries will need to jump through more hoops. In the future, it won’t be eggs over easy for breakfast to get visas. People from the countries will find it harder to get tourist and immigrant visas, including those seeking green cards. Visa validity periods could also be shortened.

Those affected can expect enhanced security screenings and mandatory in-person interviews at a US embassy or consulate. They will also need to meet stricter documentation requirements.

However, big business travelers from nations with tighter restrictions are still allowed to enter the United States under the new regulations. The restricted counties include:

• Burundi
• Cuba,
• Laos
• Sierra Leone
• Togo
• Turkmenistan, and
• Venezuela

Previous Bans

Donald Trump previously banned countries from traveling to the USA and they included Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. North Korea was also on the list. However, President Biden lifted many of those restrictions.

The new restrictions might not end with those that The White House already listed. Trump said, “We will not allow people to enter our country who wish to do us harm.” Plus, he talked about how the list could be extended or amended.

Reactions

When Fox Live Now posted their coverage on YouTube, plenty of people were able to comment on it. One of them said,“100% support this! Coming to the United States is a privilege, NOT a right!”

However, others felt that more countries should be added. A critic said, “Needs to be about 20 more countries added.”

Another one scoffed at Turkmenistan being on the list, saying, “People from Turkmenistan barely leave that country.”

Meanwhile, others wondered why China wasn’t included.
