Will King Charles’ Ongoing Cancer Battle Force Him To Abdicate?

Though King Charles recently updated us on his ongoing battle with cancer – thankfully, he’s coming out on the brighter side of it – the truth still remains that he’s 76 and dealing with a health condition that makes it harder for him to see to all his duties.

Yes, this has meant Prince William stepping up and taking a huge chunk of it, but is there at any point during his decline that he would consider abdicating?

Well, apart from the fact that he wants William to have more time to spend with his family, abdicating will also lead to some sort of crisis, or so the experts say.

Royal Expert Reveals Why Prince William and Princess Kate Aren’t Looking Forward To “An Immediate Ascension”

The thing is, as far as the British Royal Family has come in terms of adapting to the modern world, at the heart of it all is tradition.

In a recent chat with Fox News, royal expert Hilary Fordwich revealed the reason Prince William can only take on more responsibilities within the Monarchy, rather than prepare to take all of it whilst his father remains alive.

“Prince William has been assuming more responsibilities and there have been preparations for more transitions of responsibility.” Fordwich continued, “Both Prince William and Princess Catherine have been readying to assume leadership roles with an accelerated schedule of preparation for their future positions as king and queen. But most certainly, they are not in any way actively seeking an immediate ascension.”

As to why nobody in the family would be looking forward to seeing King Charles step down, the expert further explained, “The entire family…are more focused on the best interests of the monarchy’s stability and continuity, hence all being content with the gradual transition rather than any immediate decisions. The only definite thing is that an abdication would be a significant departure from all tradition.”

Queen Elizabeth the II did carry on until the day she died, even though we later learnt that she was battling bone cancer during her final years.

“Given his mother’s values, King Charles is most likely to do all he can to continue serving, dedicating himself to duty,” Fordwich noted.

What other choice does he have? Abdicate and cause a “constitutional crisis?”
