The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Wednesday, May 21 tease that your favorite soap set in Genoa City, Wisconsin is full of contradictions, romance, and embracing family and loved ones.

Today Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has a surprise, Michael Baldwin (Christian Leblanc) offers up a distraction, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) returns a favor and helps his wife Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) settle in.

Victor Woos Nikki

After all these years, Victor and Nikki prove that they are still relationship goals. Victor has been all about the scheming lately, as he tries to take down his rivals and prove what everyone already knows—that he’s top dog, you got that?
Nikki has a momentous event coming up and Victor sets the mood for all he has planned by surprising Nikki with a romantic evening.

The Baldwins Take a Break

Elsewhere, Victor’s loyal minion Michael works to ease his wife’s mind. Lauren is not happy with the work her husband is doing for Victor and it’s been causing tension.

Today Michael looks to remove some of the tension with a pleasant diversion.

If we know these two, they will escape from the mundane by indulging their fun selves!

Like Victor and Nikki, Michael and Lauren are another longtime Y&R couple who’ve weathered many ups and downs. It’s nice to see the show remember its legacy characters and remind fans that love in the afternoon is one of the reasons fans flock to soaps.

Jack and Diane Settle In

Meanwhile, Jack wants nothing more than to help Diane find her true place within the Abbott family. When Diane returned to town after lying about being dead, she was met with skepticism and anger.

It’s been a long road back to redemption after her cruel departure in which she let her loved ones believe she had died, and let Nikki take the fall for her death.
But over time she’s proved herself worthy of Jack’s love and their son Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) forgiveness.

Today romantic Jack takes matters into his own hands to ensure that his wife feels one hundred a part of the Abbott family!
