“Suits LA” Not Returning: Cancelled After Single Season

‘Suits’ was a massive hit when it moved to streaming on Netflix after it had completed its network run with a total of nine seasons. The show drew in so many viewers in its streaming era it topped Nielsen chart for a record 12 straight weeks in 2023, surpassing ‘Ozark’ at the time.

Obviously this massive fan interest would inevitably translate to a need for a continuation of the original series or perhaps even creating a spinoff. The series creator Aaron Korsh opted for a spinoff set in the West Coast and centering on entertainment lawyer Ted Black.

But they must have done something incredibly wrong with the new spinoff that fan interest wasn’t even enough to delay cancellation at the very least. Imagine getting cancelled ahead of your season one finale, and to think the lead star Stephen Amell is a favorite of many.

‘Suits LA’ Receives Early Cancellation Even After Bringing Back Original Star Gabriel Macht

One of the selling points of this revival, apart from its scenic shooting locations, a glimpse at Victoria Justice and casting ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell as lead, is the return of Gabriel Macht’s beloved character Harvey Specter in a 3-episode arc. And yet that wasn’t even enough to drive audience interest through the roof.

I guess maybe there were just so many movies and TV shows competing for audiences’ attention at the time that ‘Suits LA’s’ tantalizing promises simply fell on deaf ears. That and critics were not particularly generous with the stars they gave the show in their reviews and ratings.

Anyway, what this meant was that the ‘Suits’ spinoff was sent to an early grave after its 13-episode first season. Maybe it could have fared better had Netflix been tempted to purchase the spinoff show.

Sadly, the streamer decided to pass, despite the original being a huge moneymaker for them when it hit their platform. I mean, 58 billion minutes streamed in the span of a year is not a feat you see everyday.
