Days Of Our Lives’ Rachel Boyd Talks Learning To Maneuver ‘Life’ With Sophia Choi’s Baby Bump

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that one of the hardest things a female actress in Salem can do is play a pregnant character when they aren’t pregnant themselves! Rachel Boyd, who plays a very pregnant teenage Sophia Choi on the show, recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) about learning the ups and downs of dealing with that annoying (yet funny) pregnancy padding.

Believe It Or Not – The Pregnancy Padding Has Been Fun

Boyd tells SOD, “The pregnancy padding has been really funny.” She adds, “Honestly, it was like [the show’s wardrobe team] would Velcro me into it and it would be really tight to my body, even though it was a padded belly. So, it kind of felt like I was having a hug around me, because it was actually really comfy.”

With that said, as she’s continued with her soapy pregnancy, Sophia’s baby bump has gotten bigger, and the pregnancy padding heavier.

Boyd reveals that the wardrobe department had to “pin” her into it, and she hasn’t been able to get a break from her pregnancy bump the entire workday.

Still, the actress quickly learned how to maneuver around the studio while wearing it. This included figuring out how to take naps in her dressing room with the “belly” still on.

A Funny Moment

As she was bound to her belly padding during filming, Boyd shared some fun memories during her SOD interview. One was when she walked over to get lunch with Leo Howard (Tate Black) to the commissary.

Of course, she was sporting her pregnancy padding, and as the two headed upstairs to a balcony area, she used her belly as a “table” for her chicken shawarma bowl. This was far easier for the young actress than bending awkwardly over the table.

There was also a time that a female security guard approached Boyd, stating, “Welcome to the club, mama,” which the actress thought was hilarious. Of course, she responded with, “Thank you so much.”
