If you recall they buried the hatchet before, when Phyllis supported Sharon during her cancer battle. But things eventually went off the rails and they resumed their rivalry, mostly fueled by their passion for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).

Can Phyllis and Sharon Be Friends?

Some fans aren’t digging the new aesthetic between Phyllis and Sharon. Even the characters are questioning the weird feel of friendship. Which is not to say they have to go back to hating each others’ guts. That’s way too extreme.

But maybe they should let themselves process their thoughts and feelings before jumping into the kumbaya boat?

Can There Be a Friendship Between Red and Sharon?

The show is not wrong in trying to bring Phyllis and Sharon together—it’s something new and new is good, right? But some viewers think the characters’ scenes together are too cringe.

These women are acting like Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez and they haven’t even left Earth. Maybe dial it down a notch or three? Instead we’re seeing the former enemies practically doing each others’ nails and it feels forced.

On social media it seems that in general Y&R fans approve of Phyllis and Sharon’s new bond. They are past the teenage angst phase, after all.

Both have kids (with Nick) and are contributing members of society. As friends they set a good example for their kids and many viewers have pointed this out.

Maybe it’s hard to understand what happens when two people save each others’ lives as Sharon and Phyllis did. Phyllis and Sharon could only depend on themselves when Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) kidnapped them and we can argue they came out the better for their ordeal.
