He might be the new professor at Port Charles University, but is he even going to make it beyond the first semester?
That’s what a lot of General Hospital fans can’t help but wonder now that it’s been announced that The Young and the Restless alum Daniel Goddard has joined the case of the show as Professor Dalton.
However, a lot of people believe that this was a horrible mistake and a miscast. That’s because Daniel could have easily played the character Jasper Jacks, who was last played by actor Ingo Rademacher before he got fired from the soap back in 2021.
Seeing how Daniel has an Australian accent, he would have been the perfect fit for Jax. It would have been a great time for the actor to come back seeing how Carly now has issues with Brennan and their daughter Josslyn has joined the WSB.
But, there has been some speculation online suggesting Daniel wasn’t given a chance to even try out for the role because of actress Laura Wright. After all, Carly and Jax did have a long, romantic relationship and past that would have been wonderfully to see on the canvas again.
However, if the chemistry doesn’t feel right for Laura, then it’s not going to happen. Even though the actress herself has not said anything about bringing Jax back to Port Charles, there’s a good chance that she won’t even entertain the idea unless someone like Ingo comes back.
Now, whether or not Daniel Goddard is actually going to stay in Port Charles long term remains to be seen. So far the actor himself has not made any comments about his contract, nor has he said anything about his future on the show.
In the meantime though, GH fans will simply have to tune in each and every day to find out what will happen next.

If it is actually true LW was the reason the actor was not interviewed for the role of Jax, glad it happened as I could not envision him being Jax just due to his accent. Don't have any problems with the actor, but just can't envision him as a suitable recast for the Jax character.
