Should Johnny Be Suspect Number One?

Anyone who follows DOOL likely wasn’t shocked when EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) got shot, as he is widely disliked in Salem.

There’s a long list of suspects, including his son, Johnny. Johnny recently learned that he was conceived after EJ raped his mother, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney); this revelation put him on a direct path to confront his father.

In a fit of rage, Johnny physically attacked EJ, discovering that his existence stemmed from such a traumatic event was overwhelming for him. Although Johnny isn’t typically aggressive, his response was understandable-but would he really go so far as to shoot his father?

Johnny Was Possessed By The Devil A Few Years Ago

You may recall that Johnny was once taken over by the devil; this plot started in late December 2021, after his grandmother, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), underwent an exorcism.

The devil was looking for a new host and chose Johnny, partly because of his doubts about Marlena’s past possession and his intention to make a film about her experience.

While he was possessed, Johnny, known as “JoDevil,” displayed many unusual behaviors. One notable incident was when he suddenly and harshly ended his marriage to Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) at their engagement party, leaving her and their families in shock.

JoDevil Manipulated The Family Dynamics

Johnny, influenced by the devil, disrupted family relationships. The devil, using Johnny’s guise, acted as EJ and made unwanted advances towards Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), which led to EJ’s arrest and created tension within the DiMera family.

He undermined connections by revealing a secret affair between his twin sister Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and Chanel to Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams), causing Allie and Tripp’s breakup.

Additionally, he sought power and allure. He tried to charm Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jiminez) and manipulated corporate dynamics to benefit the devil’s agenda.

Eventually Johnny Started To Fight The Devil’s Powers

Eventually, Johnny regained awareness and started to fight against the devil’s influence. However, the devil threatened to harm his young cousins, Thomas and Charlotte DiMera, which forced Johnny to hold back his defiance. The possession ended when the devil moved into Allie, leaving Johnny unconscious.

There’s a chance the devil has returned, and Johnny shot EJ-or, it’s also possible that Johnny acted on his own and shot EJ. Do you really believe he could pull the trigger on EJ, his own father, despite the pain tied to Johnny’s conception?
