You can call her Meghan Sussex from now on. That’s right: it looks like Meghan Markle has officially changed her name.

While on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Duchess of Sussex was referred to as Meghan Sussex for the first time. 

For those who are not in the know, Meghan said on her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan that she feels like she’s more of a Sussex now than a Markle.

When her friend Mindy Kaling called her Meghan Markle, the former actress was quick to point out that she’s a Sussex now. She also said that she likes the fact that she shares her last name with her children, as it makes her feel like her family is whole and complete.

That, or Meghan is just really desperate to distance herself from her last name and her family for that matter. But a lot of people aren’t sure if this is going to work out for her. That’s because of all the things she’s said about the royal family in the past.

Of course, the internet sure did have a lot to say about this.

Some fans and critics on both sides of the aisle even commented with, “She’s trying to get everyone to call her Meghan Sussex so that when the titles are taken and she divorces Harry she has a small hint of royalty still attached.”

Another critic wrote, “Hmmmm that’s rich coming from a woman who on Oprah says the British and monarchy are racists .. look at her now she wants an English name bestowed by the Queen. She’s a psychopath and truly mentally ill!”

You Can Call Her Meghan Sussex From Now On

And then there was this comment: “It’s ridiculous how she wants to be seen as the most important person ever with that name when in reality she never wanted to work for the Crown and be a dutiful woman! She and her family don’t have any right to use that name.”

So far the Duchess of Sussex herself has not made any comments about the criticism she’s received.
