Does Beyond The Gates have a much bigger budget than The Young and the Restless? That’s what a lot of fans and critics can’t help but wonder as they’ve noticed that BTG has quite a detailed and much more modern set than Y&R has ever had.
Clearly, CBS has decided to invest in their new daytime television show and so far it seems to have worked because fans are loving all of the details.
Whereas Genoa City sometimes looks like it’s stuck back in the early 2000’s, Beyond The Gates has a set that looks like it belongs in 2025.
Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter. Some even commented with, “We’ve so far only gotten to see a few of the 27 sets they have. But what we have seen lush. It was also modern.”
“Which is the world we live in today. Which is a problem for other soaps where some of the fans yearn for living set from 1985 to still be the main set for a family. Or that they producers are repurposing the same old sets for other characters. That is something we don’t have to see happen with Beyond The Gates.”
Another critic wrote, “The sets and lighting were gorgeous, detailed and expansive. What a delight seeing people have offices, their own living spaces, working!, and just inhabiting real spaces.”
“My only significant criticism is that the sets have a bit of a same-y look. With the exception of the gay couple, there is little to distinguish the aesthetics. It’s probably because each set is brand spanking new, but it doesn’t feel like people live in these spaces, quite. I’m thinking show-homes in a real estate setting kind of vibe.”
