As many of our readers are aware of, Beyond The Gates debuted on CBS with a lot of fanfare this week. It’s been a very long time since a new soap opera has made its debut, and of course, the daytime television world is excited for some new action and drama.
But at the same time, there’s not enough room for three soaps on one network. While The Bold and the Beautiful has been doing steadily in the ratings, The Young and the Restless has been falling behind.
It seems like a lot of Y&R fans are tuning out rather than in just because they are having a hard time connecting with all of the latest storylines so much so that some people are calling it a snoozefest.
Should Beyond the Gates become the high-rating soap that a lot of people are expecting it to be, this will be bad news for The Young and the Restless. The competition is now tougher than it ever was before and if Y&R can’t perform, Beyond The Gates might put them in the cancellation bin.
Of course, that’s the last thing that The Young and the Restless fans want to see, but something has to change before it’s too late for the soap. The Newmans and the Abbotts are going to have to move to Atlanta to join the BTG cast with the way things are going.

I thought that “The Young and the Restless” had just been renewed for three more years? And that “B&B” had gotten just a one year renewal? So what gives?
If the ratings for Y&R have droipped it's due to the poor writing of the writers. We voiced our opinions about that many times, but the poor writing continued. If it's canceled I will not watch the new soap, I'm not interested in getting wrapped up in another poorly written soap.
