The beloved soap star posted a video just before he had to leave his home, capturing the terrifying proximity of the flames. A few days later, he brought fans and Entertainment Tonight along as he confronted the destruction of his Palisades residence for the first time.

Overwhelmed with grief, Eric stepped out of the car to find his home in ruins, and he didn’t shy away from expressing his sorrow as he shared this devastating moment with his followers. But as one fan told him on social media when he talked about having to evacuate, things can be replaced-lives, including his, can’t.

In a heartfelt conversation with ET’s Kevin Frazier, Eric revealed the emotional turmoil he faced after leaving his home just days prior. As they drove through the area, his mood shifted dramatically from a sense of normalcy to sheer devastation.

Upon arriving at the site where his house once stood, Eric was overcome with emotion as he stepped out of the van. “Forty-five years, man. I never thought it would hit me this hard,” he admitted, his voice trembling. “I am absolutely devastated.” The star of Y&R confessed that he wished to shield his family from the heartbreaking reality of their loss.

Married to his wife, Dale, since 1966, they share a son, Christian, and three grandchildren. “You’ve seen the news coverage over the past few days, and I never expected this- I just never imagined it,” he said, grappling with the overwhelming situation. Eric reminisced about countless moments spent with Kevin, particularly the vibrant parties and joyous gatherings he hosted with family and friends at his place.

As they strolled through the remnants of the past, Eric couldn’t help but ponder the weight of his grief. “It’s an overwhelming sense of loss, man-it’s hard to put into words, it completely throws you off balance,” the actor shared.

Yet, amidst the sorrow, Eric also conveyed a deep sense of gratitude that his family, friends, and cherished ones remained safe in the midst of such devastating times. One of those friends, castmate and tv son Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) helped him in a very special way.

Eric shared on CNN that his The Young and the Restless co-star Joshua Morrow, who portrays his son Nick Newman, informed him that his house was destroyed.

A clip posted by X account @yogachampagne shows Eric acknowledging that Joshua managed to get past some obstacles to confirm that Eric’s home had burned down. Unfortunately, Eric is among many in the LA area who have lost their homes, possessions, and lives.
