Per the latest reports, six years ago, Donald Trump called out California leadership for their failure to protect Californians from fires. This week, thousands of acres of southern California have caught on fire.

Donald Trump said at the time, “We’re giving billions and billions of dollars for forest fires in California. There’s no reason for those fires to be like they are.”

“Instead of cleaning it up, they don’t touch them. They leave them. And we ended up with these massive fires that we’re paying for.”

“California ought to get their act together and clean up their forests and manage their forests because it’s disgraceful.”

Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter. Some have even commented with, “The media has normalized that it is acceptable for leaders to be incompetent on natural disaster preparation – and attempts to brand anyone who suggests otherwise and demands accountability as divisive.”

Another critic wrote, “The amount of energy currently being expended by Democrats desperately trying to figure out a way to blame Trump for these fires would be enough to power Elon’s trip to Mars.”

“But California is a huge state with wildly different landscapes, Lots of forest mismanagement, yes! But these fires are not in forests, they are in chaparral and wildland urban interface, wind driven not fuel driven.”

And then there was this comment as well: “The sad part is all the media ever reported was that Donald Trump wanted to withhold aid to California for political reasons and another false narrative was born.”

So far Gavin Newsom himself has not made any comments about the matter just yet.
