Sonny was deep in conversation with Michael about his upcoming divorce from Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) when Jason walked in.

Jason had urgent matters to discuss with Sonny and asked Michael to hold on while they stepped out to talk business down the hall. Just moments after they left, a deafening explosion rocked the building.

Michael rushed to the patio doors, witnessing a blinding flash, and within minutes, the penthouse was engulfed in flames; was this a calculated act of revenge or a deliberate assassination attempt?

If so, who was the target- Sonny and Jason hurried back, alarmed by the blast, only to find Michael frantically calling for help amidst the chaos.

It’s clear that Sonny’s heart condition weighs heavily on Jason’s mind, as the last thing anyone wants is for both Michael and Sonny to face a tragic fate.

While the showrunners have hinted in season previews that Michael will survive, he will endure severe burns offscreen. This decision likely stems from Chad Duell’s real-life break, yet it leaves the possibility of his return open; the lingering question remains: what prompted the attack?

General Hospital Spoilers: A Two-Pronged Attack?

Michael stared at the blinding light approaching him, then the roof was  ablaze, while simultaneously an unseen force within the penthouse violently flung open the patio windows.

This unsettling scene suggested a coordinated two-pronged attack. It seemed likely that one or more bombs had been secretly placed inside the penthouse, alongside a potential drone carrying explosives from outside.

Moments before the devastating explosion, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) had taken up residence in Wyndemere, gazing out a window with a look of satisfaction. Could Sidwell be connected to this attack, perhaps orchestrating something from Spoon Island, threatening  Sonny’s territory, or an act of explosive vengeance from a rival, or a strike by unknown adversaries?
