Summer’s been through the mill the last few years, with her mother faking her death and showing up at her own funeral, and her marriage to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) breaking up.
Not all these scenarios happened in the past year, but it certainly was the culmination of a buildup for several years of drama and trauma! Co-parenting Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) while feeling like she’s sharing him with both Kyle and her newfound cousin Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) hasn’t been a piece of pie either.
Summer was optimistic that the new year would bring improvements over the last, but it seems the start won’t be as cheerful as she hoped. Here are three dramatic turns that will shake up Summer’s life in unexpected ways.
To kick things off, it appears that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is about to experience some of the chaos that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has been facing.
Phyllis firmly believes that Sharon is responsible for Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) disappearance, but in reality, it was a setup orchestrated by Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian Ward (Ray Wise). Now, it seems that Ian and Jordan are ready to pin the blame on Phyllis for Sharon’s mysterious absence.
This situation could make it look like Phyllis kidnapped Sharon out of spite, leading Summer to step in and defend her mother’s innocence. But Summer’s defense of Phyllis could totally backfire-especially if her on again off again boyfriend Chance Chancellor (Connor Floyd) finds reasons to think Summer’s an accomplice!
If Chance takes it upon himself to look into Phyllis and potentially arrest her, it could create significant romantic challenges for him and Summer. Although they recently agreed to give their relationship another shot, the ongoing drama surrounding Phyllis might jeopardize their progress.
If Summer perceives Chance as being unjust towards Phyllis, it could spell the end for their relationship, especially since she felt he was unfair during the situation with Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei).
To make matters worse, if Chance starts to think that Summer is involved in any wrongdoing, it could lead to even greater complications. She would have to be over the top defensive of her mother to make him think that, however, or over the top hateful concerning Sharon!
Summer might inadvertently cross paths with Jordan and Ian while she’s digging to assist Phyllis-this could place her in a precarious position, making her yet another target in the unfolding chaos.
