General Hospital Alum Ingo Rademacher Files Motion For New Trial Against ABC Network

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest Ingo Rademacher’s ongoing issues with ABC feel like a page out of the book of a Port Charles storyline.

While his initial lawsuit against the network was dismissed in June 2023, the latest news is that the former GH actor has now officially filed a motion for a new trial.

General Hospital Alum Ingo Rademacher History With The Soap + Legal Suit

GH spoilers remind fans that Rademacher played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the soap, entering the role in 1996. He was on the show, on and off, until he was let go in 2021.

He, along with former co-star Steve Burton (GH’s Jason Morgan) were fired when they declined to comply with ABC’s new COVID-19 vaccination policy, which has since been suspended.

A month after he left the soap, Rademacher stated his plans to take legal action against the network. In June 2023 the courts dismissed the case; however, as per In Touch, Rademacher filed a new motion on Thursday, December 26 for a trial, citing new evidence that has surfaced for the judge to look at.

More Legal Drama Up Ahead

It’s important to note that Burton did not pursue any legal action after his GH dismissal. He went on to work with Days of Our Lives (DOOL) and then returned to his GH character earlier in 2024.

In light of Burton’s rehiring, Rademacher tried to appeal the court’s decision on his case. The Hollywood Reporter shared a statement from his attorney, noting the network’s rehiring of Burton undermines the argument that Rademacher’s political beliefs didn’t play a role in firing him – a point of contention that Ingo has presented during his legal case, as he’s vocal in this regard on social media.

The statement went on to say, “Judge Goorvitch credited ABC’s evidence that the political animus that the General Hospital producers showed toward Ingo was irrelevant because, like other people, including GH actor Steve Burton, it simply could not accommodate Ingo’s objection to COVID-19 vaccination and fired him only for that reason. That argument was always specious. But it carries even less weight now, given the newly discovered evidence that ABC re-hired [Steve] for General Hospital but did not re-hire Ingo.”

In Touch also shared Ingo’s statement noting, “The evidence of [Steve’s] rehiring, but not Ingo’s, should change the court’s summary judgment ruling. It confirms that, contrary to ABC’s argument, it was not judge Ingo’s vaccination status that mattered. It was him: his political beliefs and his political commentary. That is why, unlike [Steve], ABC will never re-hire him for [General Hospital].”

As of this writing, ABC has yet to comment on the motion.
