Well, it looks like there’s a reason behind their decision to skip out on one of the most important family gatherings of the year.
There’s a new report that says Prince William and Kate Middleton had a reason for skipping out on this year’s Christmas lunch with King Charles and the royal family, and it’s not because they don’t enjoy their company.
Instead, they just want to spend as much time as possible as a family with their three children but in private instead. After all, the Prince and Princess of Wales have dealt with a lot this year, with not only Kate’s cancer diagnosis, but the King of England’s as well.
Hugo Vickers, who often has one thing or another to say about the royal family, explained why Prince William and Kate Middleton skipped out on the pre-Christmas lunch with the rest of the royals.
He said, “No one could have expected what this year has brought for the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
“Family is so important to them, and the children are the center of their universe. They wanted to start celebrating early. They’re focused this Christmas [season] on being with the family at home and then joining the rest of the Windsor family on Christmas Day. The Prince of Wales has said this has been the hardest year of his life.”
Plus, Kate Middleton isn’t totally out of the woods yet. Even though she did complete her chemotherapy treatment for her cancer, she wants to be as cautious as possible for a very long time, which means she might be skipping more events than just a Christmas lunch or two.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter just yet.
