It looks like someone here might be bucking tradition. There’s a new report that says King Charles is ditching his annual Christmas speech and of course, everyone wants to know why. But it might not be what you think. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
According to the latest reports, the King of England will be broadcasting his annual speech from Fitzrovia Chapel in London instead of Buckingham Palace, which has been the tradition for many long years now.
But according to royal commentator Robert Hardman, the chapel is the last standing remnant of Middlesex Hospital and apparently holds a lot of significance for the surrounding community.
Hardman put it this way, “Although the King had never visited the place prior to recording his broadcast, he was instantly struck by photographs of an interior which took 25 years to complete and which has been acclaimed as one of London’s hidden architectural gems.”
“By avoiding a royal desk or sitting room, the King has also avoided any micro-analysis of whichever royal photographs and portraits are in shot, and thus hinting at who is (or is not) in royal favour.”
However, there are some royal critics out there who think that King Charles has decided to record his speech at the chapel, simply because it used to be a shelter to both medical staff and patients.
Seeing how both he and Kate Middleton have both received treatment for their cancer diagnosis this year, some people think it’s only fitting for King Charles to hold his speech there.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any additional comments about the matter. We will update you with all of the latest details once they come in.
