According to the latest reports, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury who crowned King Charles, has resigned over allegations of covering up an infamous historic abuse scandal.

Welby said in a statement that he was stepping down “in sorrow” and “having sought the gracious permission of His Majesty The King.” He said that exact timings would be decided at a later date since “it is my duty to honor my constitutional and church responsibilities.”

But of course, this is the last thing that King Charles wants to deal with right now. It almost seems as if his legacy is being tarnished by one scandal after another, with none of it really being any of his own doing.

It goes without saying that the internet certainly has had a lot to say about the matter on their end.

Many fans and critics on both sides of the aisle even commented with, “Corruption runs deep in the Catholic Church and the royal family, just like every other powerful institution in the world.”

“It is and should be looked into and not just walk away. No doubt he will be sent to the Vatican for a role there.”

Another critic wrote, “I think nobody is above corruption because how can someone like that get involved in such a thing.”

“Honorable thing to do, but did not authorities know about these abuses? What kind of a society is this where people are abused in the very places where they should be running to for safety.”
