That’s what a lot of fans and critics from both sides of the aisle can’t help but wonder when it comes to the relationship between Donald Trump and Barack and Michelle Obama. It’s a complicated one, indeed.

Earlier in the month, Obama made a joke about Donald Trump and how he has sold everything in the past from bibles to sneakers and more. But a lot of critics were fast to point out that his wife Michelle Obama is no different than Trump.

Back in September, Michelle Obama was spotted promoting her new drink at a Costco in Livermore, California. The drink that she was promoting is a drink called a zero-calorie Plezi Fizz drink.

Also, while taking the stage for her speech at this year’s Democratic National Convetion, the former First Lady took quite the jab at Donald Trump. Michelle has made it no secret over the years that she’s not a fan of Trump, his policies or his personality for that matter.

 She said, “Who’s gonna tell [Trump] that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs?”

And that’s when the crowd went absolutely wild.

If that weren’t enough, earlier in the year Obama certainly didn’t mince his words about Donald Trump during an interview on the SmartLess podcast last month. As many of his critics already know, Trump has been banned from doing business in New York because of his past shady dealings. If that weren’t enough, he’s also in the middle of a historic criminal hush money trial.

Obama put it this way, “I mean, he comes from New York. There’s nobody in New York who does business with him or lend[s] him money. He’s not considered a serious guy here.”

For Donald Trump, he just wants Obama to stay in his lane.
