According to Closer magazine, it’s been suggested that Leslie won’t be reprising her role as Monica Quartermaine anytime soon and that’s mostly because of the health issues that she is currently dealing with. 

In fact, Leslie herself is in no hurry to go back to work as she’s currently using a walker and needs assistance at home and getting around town, too.

One source close to the situation even said, “Although she would be welcome back to the show with open arms, it’s unlikely that she will ever return.”

Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter. Many General Hospital fans and critics alike commented with: “They should recast. I said what I said! How is making Monica invisible a tribute to Charleston? Recast and tell LC if she ever wants to return, she’s in – no questions asked.”

Another critic wrote, “Never recast, but why not like Victor on DAYS and seems like Victor on YR too lately, just they’re seated during the conversation? Also you could set up a place at her home and shoot her ‘working from home’ type via zoom call stuff.”

And then there was this comment as well: “No. When you play a character straight through 40+ years, you deserve every courtesy and leeway. But just to kill the characters off if their absence is too glaring. I don’t think it is at all.”
