General Hospital Spoilers: Anna’s Newfound Interest in Jason Could Taint Her Ability to Remain Impartial While Going After Sonny

General Hospital spoilers tease Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) can’t keep her mind off of mob enforcer hitman Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

While she may have drawn a line in the sand and told him any embrace like the kiss they shared in Africa is never going to happen again, something tells us that’s not what she really wants.

Jason is much harder to read, of course. But now that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has gone free on all charges attached to FBI Agent John ‘Jagger’ Cates’ (Adam Harrington) murder, Anna will be back to square one with the investigation into whodunnit.

Well, sort of. She and everyone else at the PCPD have a pretty good idea of who the killer is — Sonny Cortinthos (Maurice Benard). What remains to be seen is whether Anna will go soft on Sonny to spare Jason. Has she really fallen that far, that fast?

General Hospital Spoilers — Anna and Robert Were in Agreement

Before Martin ‘Marty’ Grey (Michael E. Knight) blew into the PCPD questioning why he hadn’t been apprised of the new evidence in his client’s case, Sonny was slated to confess.

Of course, Anna and District Attorney Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) didn’t know for certain what was coming, but they were hopeful. They wanted the chance to hear what the mob boss had to say before they revealed he never had to say anything at all to get Alexis off the hook.

The moral of the story is that Anna was on the same page as Robert. She wasn’t dragging her feet in any attempt to let Sonny get away. That was then though.

GH Spoilers Leak Jason Won’t Say a Word

Now that the investigation is expanding back to a full search for Cates’ killer, Sonny will undoubtedly become a major focus of it. Marty’s evidence of Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) cover story for Sonny’s whereabouts at the time of the murder being just that — a story — will leave the police commissioner wondering how she can further poke holes in their claims of a reunion.

She might think getting that information out of Jason could work in her favor, but she’ll know better than to sniff around him for dirt on Sonny or Carly. That being said, she may also plant seeds of doubt with him that make him run back to his boss and best friend with concerns that they won’t be able to pull off this ruse too.

General Hospital Spoilers — Optics Are Everything

It’s not whether Sonny and Carly are back together that matters. It’s whether it looks like they are. When it starts to appear to Anna that they definitely aren’t, she may not act as swiftly as Robert would have hoped in taking Sonny down — not in the wake of watching Jason’s loyalty to him and Carly play out once again.

It’s even possible that her dragging her feet may have more to do with protecting Carly for Jason’s sake than protecting Sonny. But while the police are gauging just how involved Carly is with her ex, will they also take note of how involved Anna seems to be with Jason? Could her performance be called into question if she doesn’t act swiftly to take this career criminal down?
