This is absolutely shocking news for the daytime television community. There are new reports that says Days of Our Lives actor Drake Hogestyn, who is best known for his role as John Black on the hit Peacock soap, has died at the age of 70. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Drake, who was with the soap for over 40 years, reportedly passed away peacefully, according to Page Six.
A statement from the actor’s rep reads as: “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn. He was thrown the curve ball of his life when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he faced the challenge with incredible strength and determination.”
“After putting up an unbelievable fight, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was the most amazing husband, father, papa and actor. He loved performing for the Days audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew, and production team in the business. We love him and we will miss him all the Days of our Lives.”
A lot of Days of Our Lives fans commented on the matter on social media.
Some even said, “I watched him on Days of Our Lives for years. My condolences to his family. Sounds like besides being a good actor, he was a great husband, father and grandfather. Rest in peace Drake.”
Another fan wrote, “Not the biggest soap fan but I do remember his classic scenes with the actor who played Stefano. It didn’t matter how absurd the material was, these guys always dove in head first and asked questions later. It was phenomenal entertainment even if you had no idea what was going on.”
And then there was this comment as well: “He had an impressive, diverse and academic background and succeeded at one of actings most difficult jobs being on a tv soap and made it look easy. Well done.”
