As many The Young and the Restless fans know by now, things haven’t been looking very good for Sharon Newman and of course, her family is more than concerned.

One person who has been trying to understand the truth about her mother happens to be Mariah. Luckily, actress Camryn Grimes, who plays Mariah on the hit CBS soap, opened up about the love that her character has for her mother.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Camryn said that she understands just how much Sharon is going through right now, especially with Faith’s car accident with Lucy.

The actress said, “I think that Mariah — not being privy to Sharon’s sort of worst period of time with her mental illness and episodes — is always going to give Sharon the benefit of the doubt.”

“She’s always going to err on the side of the devil’s advocate and want to really believe in her mom.”

However, The Young and the Restless spoilers say that Sharon keeps on coming up with excuses not to take care of herself, just like she did when she skipped the spa the first time around.

Camryn previews, “Nick and Faith and Mariah and Sharon had sort of discussed this plan for her moving forward and her getting herself help, so any flip-flopping is going to be a bit of a red flag.”

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: What’s Next For Sharon Newman?

“Mariah still doesn’t understand, nor does anybody, the depth of how far this is going for Sharon, but that being said, there are things that are going to make her, for somebody as consistent as Sharon, it’s obviously going to raise at least a little bit of an alarm for Mariah.”

That’s when Mariah has a much-needed conversation with Nick about the matter.

“She’s coming in with a completely different perspective than Nick. She obviously didn’t want to jump to the worst conclusion, but her interest and her concern has definitely been piqued. And both compare notes on Sharon’s determination to keep Faith from seeing Lucy.”
