Sometimes it’s best not to speculate. While there was heavy speculation suggesting vice presidential candidate Tim Walz might have been a little too aggressive with his son Gus Walz while on the stage during the Democratic National Convention, that didn’t seem to be the case at all.

According to a new report, a full video of Tim Walz tugging his son’s arm appears to show that he was quickly pulling him so he wouldn’t run into the teleprompter on stage.

Walz came under fire after online users accused him of being too aggressive with his special needs son. However, a more detailed video of the situation suggests Walz was just acting quickly to stop his son from hitting the teleprompter. 

Walz’s daughter, who was next to Gus Walz, walked in front of the teleprompter while Gus, who appeared to be walking right towards the teleprompter, was pulled behind it.

Of course, it didn’t take very long for both fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter.

Many of them wrote comments on social media such as, “I’m glad to know the true story. I was quick to jump on it too, I guess, because of my complete and utter dislike of Tim Walz.”

Did Tim Walz Go A Little Too Far?

“I think his facial expression (irritated) threw some people off but in reality, he was just looking out for his son.”

Another critic added, “I don’t think his facial expression should matter especially with the full story. I grew up with a brother with special needs.”

“While you love your brother/child with all your heart, outside people can’t comprehend the added stress and responsibility it brings.”

And then there was this comment as well: “If he was just saving him from a teleprompter he would not have that expression on his face with the forceful yank. If this was Trump, would the media post a status like this?”

“It would be blasted all over main stream news that Trump was an abusive father. While we take the high ground, the other side is brainwashing people with constant lies and attacks on our character.”

“We better start fighting fire with fire or we’re never going to win another election again.”
