There are some long-time viewers out there that think Eric Braeden should go. And it has nothing to do with his political views or his outspoken opinions about current affairs. Instead, it’s because his character, Victor Newman, has done everything he possibly could do in this fictional town of Genoa City. 

That makes sense, doesn’t it? Well, for some people it does, and for others, it doesn’t.

After one The Young and the Restless wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “They need to get rid of Eric Braden… He has more than run his course on the show,” it didn’t take long at all for others reply.

One critic wrote, “His character, as far as I am concerned, has ran its course on the show because he has done nothing but repeats over and over and over again, same old storyline, which is predictably boring. The show just needs new character and fresh storylines that don’t always have to revolve around the Newman family.”

Another fan of the show said, “You’re joking I hope. Get rid of Eric? There’d be a revolution like you’ve never seen if they did that. Victor’s the man we all love to hate. And Eric’s the man we all love and respect. I’m so glad to see Victor back making his special kind of trouble & Eric at his best! There’s no way that he could ever leave.”

Doug Davidson, who used to play Paul Williams on the show, even added, “I love Eric. We disagree on almost everything politically, but I would trust him with the lives of my family. I can’t speak any more highly of anyone than that.”
