The Young and the Restless spoilers and updates tease Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will remain determined to fight Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to give Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) a more stable life.
Summer doesn’t approve of the choices Kyle’s been making recently, especially not related to Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) but she’s starting to make some pretty questionable ones herself as well!
Summer is determined to secure primary custody of Harrison, despite the obstacles she may encounter-she’s not his birth mother, and she didn’t adopt him while married to Kyle.
While she may not be Harrison’s biological mother, her love for him knows no bounds, and she loves him just like her own-his birth mother, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) is in prison.
Kyle, the biological father, may have an upper hand in the custody battle because of that, but Summer is not one to back down easily.
She is already taking steps to improve her situation by planning to move into a proper house for Harrison’s sake. Perhaps a marriage proposal to Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) could be the unexpected move that turns the tide in her favor.
The summer season may inspire the idea of a wedding due to custody-related concerns. It’s possible that Summer is trying to create the impression that Harrison will benefit from having two loving parents in a stable home, as opposed to Kyle’s carefree bachelor lifestyle.
However, marriage is a significant commitment, and Chance hasn’t been in a relationship with Summer for very long.
He may need to slow down Summer’s wedding plans and acknowledge that it’s too much to ask of him, especially considering his past marriage to Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway). This could also be an opportunity for Chance to help Summer see her obsessive behavior and overreactions.
Chance may feel inclined to approach the delicate situation with care, but he could potentially urge Summer to realize she is going too far. On the other hand, Chance might be open to the idea.
Given Chance’s understanding of the struggles of being a non-biological parent and feeling like an outsider, he could be willing to marry Summer to enhance her chances of gaining custody.
It would be logical for Summer to propose the idea of marriage to Chance for the sake of custody. This storyline aligns perfectly with Y&R’s theme of Summer making bold moves that may come back to haunt her, although she could go down a riskier path.
