White House 2024: Donald Trump To Announce Doug Burgum As His Running Mate?

According to the Election Odds Tracker from Sports Handle, it looks like Donald Trump might be close to announcing his VP pick, but the race is fairly tight.

There are currently three candidates that oddsmakers see as legitimate contenders for Trump’s VP nomination:

Doug Burgum – 32.5%

JD Vance – 30.4%

Marco Rubio – 15.3%

Now, as far as who is going to have the job, Sports Handle has an interesting take on it from their spokesperson.

“What a ride Doug Burgum has been on. In the span of two and a half months Burgum has gone from a nationally-unknown governor, to the clear frontrunner to be Donald Trump’s running mate, to now being locked in a battle with Senator JD Vance for that spot.”

“Vance has made a push at the right time, with Trump expected to name his running mate just ahead of the start of the Republican National Convention on Monday or, potentially, at the convention.”

“Burgum still holds a narrow lead, but it looks like anybody’s ballgame at this point. Senator Marco Rubio also can’t be completely ruled out.”

Will Donald Trump Make An Announcement Soon?

“He could end up as a compromise candidate, and one who could add minority representation to the ticket, something Trump was rumored to be looking for early on in the search.”

Now, as far as what Joe Biden is going to do on his end, it seems like he’s got a lot of work to do if he wants to retain the keys to the White House.

“Biden has been very clear regarding his intention to stay in the race, but bookmakers are unconvinced.”

“Kamala Harris’s odds of winning the 2024 election herself have decreased from a high of 20% last week, but are still significantly higher than they would be at this point in a “normal” election cycle.”

“Meanwhile, Trump has steadily increased his odds lead, once again breaking his own record with a staggering 67% chance of victory.”
