General Hospital Spoilers: Josh Kelly Says Mac Is Back Where He Belongs

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Josh Kelly, who plays Cody on the hit ABC soap, says that he couldn’t be happier to have his on-screen father John J. York back on the set of the show.

As many fans already know, John had undergone a stem cell transplant to treat two forms of cancer. Josh admits that he had experienced a lot of different emotions over this, just like his other castmates have.

He said, “I try to stay optimistic in situations like this and primarily focus on the best-case scenario. But I was scared.”

That said, Josh Kelly says that he has gotten very close with John off-screen just as much as his characters have gotten close on-screen.

The actor put it this way, “We had just started really bonding, going on hikes and stuff together.”

“And then he left [the show] and I was just really worried about him. I kept checking in, messaging him and wishing him well, and he said, ‘Hopefully I’ll be back in April,’ but then April came and went.”

“He kept me updated and let me know how he was doing, and he was doing as well as could be expected, and one day he hinted at something, like, ‘I can’t tell you if I’m coming back, but I hope to see you soon.’”

“And that day, I got a script saying that I had a scene with Mac. It was great! When I found out that he was actually coming back, it made me so happy.”

We can’t wait to see the two of them on the canvas together real soon!
