General Hospital Spoilers: Giovanni Mazza Teases Romance Between Trina & Gio

General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that fans have been buzzing about Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri since he first entered Port Charles, attending the wedding of his cousin, Brook Lynn Quartermaine-Chase (Amanda Setton).

Actor, Giovanni Mazza who plays the new character, recently sat down with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) to talk about a number of things, from playing the violin to diving into acting, as well as Gio’s connection to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

GH Spoilers: From Violinist To Actor

GH spoilers note that everyone who attended BLQ and Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) wedding was completely taken aback by Gio’s talent with the violin, as he played during the ceremony.

Mazza tells SOD that he started playing the instrument at the age of 3. At the age of 9, he played during a Chicago Bulls half-time show after his mom found a kids talent show on Facebook, and one year later, they brought him back.

After that, things took off, and Mazza began playing at half-time shows over 100 different half-time shows, including a number of NBA All-Star games. Last year, while playing for a Lakers game, LeBron James even took notice while Mazza was doing a sound check and began filming him on his phone, “bobbing along”, and dancing to his music.

Still, while he loved (and loves) playing the violin, it was around the age of 6-7 that Mazza started aspiring to be an actor. It was when he saw his Uncle Brian Chesters’ appearance on Grey’s Anatomy.

His mom was supportive, and they began auditioning at an early age. He even scored a national Walmart commercial and was “always” auditioning; however, because the demand for his violin music was so high, he didn’t get the opportunity to focus on acting as much as he wanted to.

That is, until COVID-19 hit.

This is when Mazza realized he wanted to pursue acting more heavily. After some years of training, he went out to L.A. in March of this year and decided to chase after his dream. Of course, within weeks of doing so, he auditioned for GH, and the rest is history.

GH Spoilers: Will Gio & Trina Head Toward A Romance?

It’s still hard to tell if Gio will jump into a romance with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) or Trina. Ms. Robinson is still mourning the loss of Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez), and while Joss is technically single, it seems as if a reunion is brewing between her and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) is in the cards.

Still, fans saw Gio and Trina meet for the first time this week and it seemed like some sparks were flying. Mazza tells SOD, “She is interested in who Gio is and wants to know more about him just as he wants to know about her, and I think we’ll develop a great connection on the show.

I feel like there’s so much that could happen and could blossom out of our relationship, and I’m excited to know where the story goes.”
