One of the great things about the cast of The Young and the Restless is  that they really do act like a family offscreen as much as they are onscreen, too. Thankfully, there’s just a lot less drama in real life, if at all. Y&R actor Michael Mealor, who is best known for his role as Kyle Abbott on the hit CBS soap, recently opened up about working with the newest Abbott addition. And of course, we are talking about youngster Redding Munsell, who plays his son Harrison. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Michael said that working with his on-screen son has been nothing short of fun and of course, very professional. That’s because Redding brings a different kind of energy to the set of the soap.

At the same time though, the actor does admit that being a child star isn’t always easy. Michael put it this way, “It’s hard. “I think as a kid of when I joined, there have been multiple Kyles and it’s kind of the question of whether you pick up where they left off or not. And I don’t know if he can ask a 6 or 7-year-old to necessarily do that.”

Michael also added, “Redding is excited to be there and he’s one of the smartest 7-year-olds I’ve ever met. And he’s pure talent, which it’s fun to watch him come on set and see what he has to do because he has ideas and that’s an exciting thing, to work with a kid. Redding is a welcome edition. He’s fantastic.”
