In fact, there’s a new report that says Suri Cruise celebrated her 18th birthday in New York City while her father Tom Cruise was thousands of miles away in London. According to Page Six, Suri Cruise looked like the typical, happy teenager that she is while she was out and about with her best friends on a very rainy day in New York City. But her father was nowhere to be seen. Tom, who is reportedly estranged from his daughter Suri, was busy working abroad in London. In fact, Tom has been spending most of his time in the UK and rarely, if ever, spends any time in the United States anymore.

That said, there’s heavy speculation on social media that Suri Cruise might want to reach out to her father and that she might have interest in the Church of Scientology. But it’s been reported that one of the reasons why Tom has kept his distance from both Suri and her mother Katie Holmes is because of his close ties with the church. Once you are out, you are out, and there’s just no going back in.

What’s Next For Tom Cruise?

Of course, many fans and critics alike have had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some have even commented with, “Katie did a wonderful job getting her away from that cult and keeping her private life…private. as a parent, i cannot imagine turning my back for over a decade on something i brought into this world,” along with, “I cannot imagine being so brainwashed & controlled (financially and psychologically) by Scientology to leave my kid and miss out on every event in his/her life. Zero parenting points. Zero.”

Another critic wrote, “You’re better off without him, Suri! Happy birthday. The less time she spends time with him, the better.”

So far Tom Cruise himself has not made any comments about the matter.
