This is a job that he just doesn’t want. There’s a new report that suggests Prince William is refusing to be the next King of England. While he doesn’t want the kind of like that his brother Prince Harry has, he certainly does think about the freedom that comes with being an independent royal. Because of that, the Prince of Wales knows that he will never have the kind of ‘normal’ life he would normally have and that’s something he thinks about everyday. While he’s only one heartbeat away from the job, Prince William refuses to be the next King of England. It was a job that was best fit for someone like his grandmother Queen Elizabeth. His father King Charles had his entire life to prepare for the role. But because of William’s age, he hasn’t had that much time to shadow his father. And he has enough self-awareness to know that he needs more on-the-job training before he takes the throne.

Of course, anything can happen between now and the end of the year. With King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, there’s heavy speculation that he might abdicate, should his symptoms get worse. Prince Wiliam knows he has to be ready and willing to go without much notice. And that right there is one of the many reasons he feels like he’s not ready. Everything is happening way too fast for him.

Then again, should Prince William decide that he’s not ready for the job or that he doesn’t want to put his family through that misery, the only other person that could do it (other than his three children) would be Prince Harry. And the thought of having a Queen Meghan Markle in this world is enough for Prince William to know that he can’t make that happen. 

So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter.
