General Hospital fans are concerned about actor Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and there’s a good reason behind it. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
If there is one soap opera star that fans absolutely love, it’s Maurice Benard. Viewers feel very protective over him, which is why many have shown their concern over Sonny’s latest storyline. They feel as though the topic of mental health and Sonny being bipolar might trigger Maurice off screen. But luckily, that is not the case at all.
Maurice, who is one soap opera star who never shies away from the truth, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to write to his fans, “As far as @GeneralHospital There’s been a lot of talk about mental health lately people concerned for my health. I like it talk brings awareness. GH has always done an impressive job with bipolar stories it can’t be perfect. It’s TV not real life. LET’S NEVER STOP TALKING.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for his fans and his followers to weigh in on the mater as well. Some of them even commented with, “Yeah man I think we’re all just worried or concerned. We don’t want you to experience any trauma or issues because of this storyline. I know you’re a professional but everything you do with State of Mind is far more important. Stay well,” along with, “I think people want to make sure that you feel comfortable telling the bipolar story again. We want you to continue to be well!!”
Another General Hospital fan wrote, “I feel bad for Sonny, & his mental health decline. But I can & do separate real, from reel. You do a phenomenal job educating #GH viewers on mental health and wellbeing. The people Sonny has always trusted seem to be dwindling right in front of his eyes and in his mind.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS STORYLINE!!!!!. END IT SOON BY FINDING ANOTHER WAY. MESSING WITH SOMEONES MEDS IS NEVER RIGHT. IM NOT LIKING THIS ONE AT ALL. ..... I LOVE SONNY FOR THE MOST PART AND THIS IS JUST WRONG ON ALL LEVELS.
