To be friends or not to be friends. That really is the question when it comes to General Hospital’s Carly Corinthos and Jason Morgan. Now that Jason is officially back in this fictional town of Port Charles, a lot of people can’t help but wonder if there is going to be a romance between him and his ‘best friend’ Carly. Who is Jason Morgan’s real soul mate? That seems to be a question that is on the minds of a lot of General Hospital fans out there. While it seems like Jason and Carly might continue to stay in the friend zone, some people think it’s time for them to get romantic. That is, if he doesn’t get romantic with Sam McCall, right?
It goes without saying that many royal fans and critics alike sure do have a lot to say about Jason and Carly’s relationship on social media. Some have even commented with, “There never should have been any romance. Carly and Jason should just be good friends. Diane will get Jason out of the trouble,” along with, “Most fans didn’t like it at all the first time. Won’t like it the 2nd time either. I’ve always loved them together as best friends. His true soulmate has always been Sam.”
Another critic wrote, “When Carly was played by Sarah Brown her and Steve had a lot of chemistry. I never understood why they put that aside and they paired her with the SONNY character.. Jason step aside allowed Carly and Michael to be with Sonny. He didn’t have the courage or perhaps he didn’t wanna challenge his hero. The person that he thought made him a man made him who he is. He couldn’t go against that.”

Sure it's possible for Carly/Jason to stay in the friend zone if writers pen it that way and I certainly hope writer's don't go in that direction.
Jason and Sam forever but if not Sam, then Britt. Jason is looking older, however, so it could be an ongoing protective love story that will have to wane at some point leaving Britt to a different future.
it’s also possible that Jason will have to become a real Quartermaine again and neither Britt nor Sam could fit the role. Carly and Jason need to stay in friend zone. Chemistry between Laura Wright and older Jason
