There’s breaking news coming out of Buckingham Palace today. King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer. This comes after the King of England was hospitalized last week and had undergone corrective surgery for his enlarged prostate. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Buckingham Palace released a statement about the King of England’s cancer diagnosis. It said, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” according to the emailed statement. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
However, the palace did not specify what form of cancer was diagnosed or at what stage it was found. While King Charles’ son Prince William has not made any comments about the matter, reports have indicated that he is headed back to work this week even though he was expected to remain home with his wife, Kate Middleton, who is also recovering from her abdominal surgery. There’s heavy speculation now that Prince William is expected to prepare for the throne immediately, especially since his father will now be expected to remain behind due to his new and shocking health battle.
King Charles has not made any indication that he plans to abdicate the throne. But if he does, that will make his won Prince William the immediate and new King of England. His wife, Kate Middleton, would become the new Queen of England even though Charles’ wife Queen Camilla is the queen now. However, the Princess of Wales is expected to be on bed rest for the next two months.
Fans have been wishing King Charles a speedy recovery on social media. The King only took the throne after his own mother Queen Elizabeth died back in September 2012. Prince William, meanwhile, has not been seen since he was spotted visiting his wife Kate Middleton at the hospital two weeks ago. We will update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
