Buckingham Palace released a statement about the King of England’s cancer diagnosis. It said, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” according to the emailed statement. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

However, the palace did not specify what form of cancer was diagnosed or at what stage it was found. While King Charles’ son Prince William has not made any comments about the matter, reports have indicated that he is headed back to work this week even though he was expected to remain home with his wife, Kate Middleton, who is also recovering from her abdominal surgery. There’s heavy speculation now that Prince William is expected to prepare for the throne immediately, especially since his father will now be expected to remain behind due to his new and shocking health battle.

King Charles has not made any indication that he plans to abdicate the throne. But if he does, that will make his won Prince William the immediate and new King of England. His wife, Kate Middleton, would become the new Queen of England even though Charles’ wife Queen Camilla is the queen now.
