General Hospital and Days of Our Lives alum Tyler Christopher’s cause of death has been confirmed. As many daytime television fans can recall, the actor died back on October 31st. His death shocked the daytime television world. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
According to TMZ, the talented soap star reportedly died of “positional asphyxia due to acute alcohol intoxication.” What’s more, his underlying condition, coronary artery atherosclerosis, also contributed to the actor’s death.
Initial reports said that Tyler died of cardiac arrest in his San Diego home on October 31st. He was best known for his role as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital and as Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives. The actor left behind two children, Greysun and Boheme. Tyler’s good friend and former General Hospital co-star Maurice Bernard broke the news on his Instagram account. He wrote, “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”
On Tyler’s 50th birthday back in November of 2022, Tyler shared a photo of himself with his children along with a message that said, “I have fond memories of celebrating my 40th birthday at The Little Beach House in Malibu surrounded by friends. In the decade since then my daughter was born, I won an Emmy, was the lead actor in 4 television shows, completed a dozen movies, lived in a half dozen states, relapsed and recovered, survived a traumatic brain injury and pandemic, became single again, lost some friends and family, found my savior, embraced God’s will for me, and learned to be content living a quieter life.”
So far Tyler’s family has not made any additional comments about his death. We will definitely update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
