General Hospital spoilers and updates for Tuesday, January 2 tease life-altering news, urgent requests, and asking favors. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) receives life-altering news, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) makes an urgent request, and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) asks favors.
Carly has been celebrating the New Year with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in bed, his having arrived home from Australia early.
They’re toasting the New Year with champagne as she smiles and says this is going to be a good year. However, before the day is over, she’ll receive some life-altering news that will kill her good mood.
It’s a good thing that Drew has come home early because she’ll need him to lean on. She’ll be notified her mother, Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) passed away in Amsterdam, where she was trying to settle her late brother Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) estate.
Meanwhile, Olivia is at the docks where Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) are watching New Year’s Eve fireworks. But she makes an urgent request, telling Ned with Michael looking on he’d better get back there right away!
“There” is the Savoy, where she’d left Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) after Lois deduced it was Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) who ratted to the SEC. Olivia obviously fears more fireworks at the Savoy than at the docks, and the three take off.
Elsewhere, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) is with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) planning a surprise, or is it a plot? She tells Chase it’s better to ask forgiveness than to ask them permission, obviously wondering how someone who’ll be surprised will take it.
Are they planning on surprising their family members with a quickie wedding so Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) will be able to attend before his ALS worsens?
Or are they plotting something else that might not be such fun? From their demeanor, it’s probably the former.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) asks Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) how she thinks Drew’s going to react about something. She’s been grappling with co-parenting their daughter, Emily “Scout” Cain (Cosette Abinante) with Drew.
Drew had enrolled Scout in a prestigious private school without discussing it with either Sam or Scout first, and Scout doesn’t want to go. Her friends are at her public school and she doesn’t care about the prestige or the award winning swim team.
It sounds like Sam has made a decision to dis-enroll Scout from the private school without talking to Drew first-but karma kicks hard from the back!
Meanwhile, Willow is at Crimson Magazine and wants a favor from her mother, Nina, who smiles when Willow asks her to help her out.
It’s her second interruption while she’s been trying to pay holiday bonuses to her employees but her daughter comes first. Perhaps, since Willow had to work and couldn’t spend New Year’s Eve with Michael, she’s asking for babysitting help.
Nina will be thrilled at that request, spending the rest of the evening with her grandchildren. Willow’s request obviously overrides Michael’s blackmail, which Willow will soon find out about as well as Sonny!
Back at the Savoy, Lois pops the cork, so to speak, as she tells Sonny she knows who really wanted to out Drew and Carly to the SEC. But they’ll be interrupted by Olivia, Michael and Ned before she tells Sonny it was Nina-and tell Sonny to ask Michael.
Sonny will confront Michael and Olivia will be angry at Lois for letting multiple fighting cats out of the bag, because someone’s going to be hurt! Not to mention Sonny’s likely to pop his cork at both Michael and Nina!
