General Hospital spoilers and updates for Monday, December 25 tease a sports preemption, an intruder hunt and someone’s playing a priest.
Monday has a sports preemption with the episode showing Tuesday, Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) on an intruder hunt and Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) playing a priest in more ways than one.
After Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) left Ace Prince-Cassadine (Joey and Jay Clay) overnight with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) he tells Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) maybe Esme has a heart.
The original plan was for Spencer to spend Christmas Eve with Esme and Ace but now he gets to spend it with Trina and Ace. Trina most likely has her doubts about Esme having a heart, even though she was a good mother to Ace.
Little do they know that Esme’s memories have returned and with them, the old Esme. She broke into Wyndemere Castle looking for answers and all her memories returned.
Meanwhile, Esme’s on the parapet where she jumped from around a year ago, talking to someone on the phone and crying. Are they just crocodile tears or is she really hurting-they kind of look real, although she tells the person on the other end she doesn’t care about “her”.
The big question is, who’s the “her” she doesn’t care about-Trina, or maybe even Laura Collins (Genie Francis) who’s done nothing but be kind and help her? The other big question is, who is she talking to and pouring out her heart to?
Meanwhile Ava appears to have gotten an alert about a break-in at Wyndemere and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) has caught up to her.
Dante tells her she’s looking for an intruder to shoot, which would be a very bad idea-if an intruder’s to be shot, let the police handle it! They could be at the castle when Dante catches up to her but she’s assuming she’ll find Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss).
Ava should know from what happened with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) you don’t just shoot at an intruder in the dark! Besides, what if the intruder shoots first, like what she thinks might have happened to Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth)?
Elsewhere, possibly at the hospital, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) seems sad as she tells someone she knows what they’re going to say. She’s not on a phone so it can’t be Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) she’s talking to, and besides, he’s still in Australia on a business trip.
Possibly Carly has gotten some bad news-in person, and she doesn’t even have to ask, she’s guessed what has happened. Carly looks very serious and somewhat sad in response to the situation; what could it be about that has her so concerned?
In the hospital chapel, Cyrus is playing a priest in more than one way as the priest (uncredited actor) tells him his friend is lucky to have him looking out for them.
Previously, he saw Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) come in and ask to make confession and Cyrus snuck into the confessional booth behind the curtain! The priest seems very impressed with Cyrus, but would he really let him help out hearing confessions?
Cyrus isn’t even Catholic, let alone ordained. He’s really got the good father fooled.
Meanwhile, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has returned to his penthouse, with Nina still at the hospital. He tells someone “that’s not going to happen”-perhaps talking to Laura.
Sonny and Laura will look for answers, but will they be about Esme, who didn’t come home, or Nikolas, based on Ava’s theories? He’s not going to let anything happen to either of them, he seems to be making that clear. Perhaps Dante has told him about the break-in at Wyndemere.
Meanwhile, at the confessional in the hospital chapel, Nina’s still pouring out her guilt and her heart, telling the person behind the curtain she doesn’t know where else to turn.
But who’s behind the curtain-the real priest, or Cyrus again, who her secrets may not be safe with? She may be seeking absolution-forgiveness from God-but Cyrus can’t give it to her.
It seems like grief over her other daughter, Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) is what made all of this happen, even though she’s been presumed dead for years now. If she’s confessing to Cyrus, what’s he going to do with the information?
Dante returns to Wyndemere, gun drawn, with a worried Laura right behind him. Based on Ava’s suspicions they’re probably looking for Nikolas, but Esme’s missing from her apartment too.
Either way, it makes a lot of sense for Laura to be there, no matter which one it is. Esme will barely escape, but will it be from Dante and Laura, or is Nikolas in there too?
