Days of Our Lives News: Peter Porte Explains Why He Left The Show – “I Didn’t See It Coming”

Days of Our Lives star Peter Porte has opened up about the reason why he’s decided to step away from the soap. As many fans know, Peter played Dimitri von Leuschner. But his six-month stint with the Peacock soap has ultimately come to an end. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Speaking about Dimitri’s arrest and how he’s now behind bars, Peter admits that he definitely didn’t see this coming for his character. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, he said, “It was pretty powerful. I loved it. It’s always sad when your storyline comes to an end, but I think that it was a very smart way of wrapping things up. Ultimately, so much of what we saw between Dimitri and Leo was these comedic antics, yet they were very much in love. So to ground it in that way, that Dimitri had to finally make an ultimate sacrifice of himself in this display of love for Leo, was a very passionate and beautiful way to wrap things.”

And while it doesn’t look like Peter will be returning to the canvas anytime soon, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been keeping busy. In fact, he’s even admitted that he’s got quite a few projects in the pipeline. He also thinks that he’ll come back to Salem, but just doesn’t know when. The actor explained, “I mean, not only did I get to play with and hang out with my friends, that I would choose to do for free, but I was getting paid for it. And the commute is 10 minutes from my house. That’s a win-win. This show is so special, because things really click along. The amount that I was able to cover, even in six months, was pretty incredible. It really was a great experience.”
