Rosalynn Carter Wanted Melania Trump At Her Funeral Despite Pushback

Despite all of the controversy about her supposedly wearing a gray (or is it black and white) coat to her funeral, there’s a new report that says Rosalynn Carter absolutely wanted Melania Trump to be there.

Melania made headlines when it appeared as though she was out of place with her jacket when it appeared to be much brighter than the black outfits that the other former first ladies had on at the funeral. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

The Washington Post writer Marcy Jordan reports that even though a lot of people see Melania Trump as a very controversial figure, mostly because of her husband Donald Trump, Rosalynn did not pay any attention to the drama.

Rosalynn wanted her to be there along with all of the other current and living first ladies. Jordan writes, “Rosalynn Carter’s family said she specifically wanted Melania Trump to know she was invited to the service. In a time of division, she hoped all the first ladies would join in a show of solidarity as her farewell tribute.”

It goes without saying that many Trump fans and critics had a lot to say about Rosalynn’s sentiments on Twitter. Some replied with, “It was so gracious of Rosalyn to invite her to the service and gracious of Melania to attend.

Can the rest of us humans show a tad of grace in this situation like them?” along with, “And that’s why Mrs. Carter was a great lady. Personally, I know I wouldn’t have been that gracious but that’s my cross to bear and it isn’t heavy at all.”

Melania Trump Was Welcomed At The Funeral

Another critic wrote, “Melania did nothing to earn anyone’s derision except marry a man that those people hated. She’s a former First Lady and I’m very happy Mrs Carter chose to rise above the pettiness of the others.”

Melania, meanwhile, has not made any comments about the matter, although at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said. Watch this space.
