The Young and the Restless star Doug Davidson has had one rollercoaster of a year. Here are just a few tragic details about his ongoing feud with the hit CBS soap.
Speaking to Soap Hub in an interview back in September, the actor admitted that there was a lot of confusion regarding the decision to let Doug go. He explained, “ Jill [Farren Phelps, who came on in 2012] and I had a really good working relationship. They made her hire her replacement. I guess her replacement was doing what Sony [Pictures Television, which produces Y&R] had issued. He was the one that made the decision [to take me off contract].”
Doug continued, “He had a history of cutting legendary characters from his shows. He made the claim that nobody has to know [I’d been fired]. I went to a producer three times that year in April, June, and another time. I was saying if he doesn’t write for me, it’s going to raise a red flag. I’m under my guarantee. I was told not to worry.”
That same month, Doug, who is always very transparent with his fans, took to his Twitter account to write, “Hi guys! I just wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments and support. But I would like to make a comment on some of the negative messages I got it’s amazing to me that this can’t be a positive place where we support one another.”
Over the summer, he also made a shocking claim about his post-soap life. When one Twitter user said, “@DougDavidsonYR Hopefully you get a residual when they mention your name on #YR #YR50 Cricket asked about you on today’s show,” Doug swiftly replied with, “No, I don’t.”
He’s also hinted that he wouldn’t mind seeing The Young and the Restless canceled. Or so it seems. After one fan tweeted at Doug, “I tried watching the show without you and I can’t,” along with the hashtag, “Cancel The Young and the Restless,” the actor rescinded with just the prayer hands emoji. That, or he might have simply been thanking his fan. Either way, a lot of fans can’t help but throw a side eye in Doug’s direction for his reaction.

That's a shame how they did him. Just because the new guy didn't like him. That's his problem. The fans did. Also that was terrible what they did to Ray. I had quit watching for about 2 years. But later I could zip past what I didn't what to see.
