The Young and the Restless spoilers say that even though he’s pretty outspoken when it comes to a number of different topics out there, he’s gotten pretty quiet all of a sudden. Many Y&R fans have noticed that actor Eric Braeden, who is best known for his role as Victor Newman on the hit CBS soap, is skirting the controversial dementia storyline. Here’s what you need to know.
Many Y&R fans have made it pretty clear on social media that they are none too pleased with Victor Newman’s current storyline. That’s because it appears as though Victor might be faking his dementia symptoms in order to ‘trick’ his three children Victoria Newman, Adam Newman, and Nick Newman. But fans think there’s nothing interesting or clever about faking a very serious disease that has left many people heartbroken over their loved ones.
It goes without saying that many The Young and the Restless fans are outraged that the writers would even come up with a storyline like this. So far Eric Braeden himself has not made any comments about it, but his fans sure have. Some have said on Twitter, “I have worked with folks dealing with dementia, it’s not cute and you don’t do it to tests your kids loyalty,” along with, “There’s nothing cute about dementia. I’ve seen it up close & personal. It’s heartbreaking & scary to watch the person you know & love slip away. They handled Dina’s Alzheimers beautifully. Then, they go & have Victor pretend. It’s not okay, & they should stop this awful plot.”
And then there was this comment as well: “My grandma had it, and I find it offensive they play this. As someone who has lost precious family members to this horrible disease. I am offended #YR would make light of this by having him pretend.”
It goes without saying that The Young and the Restless fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next.
